| Abstract: |
The Florida Coalition for Optimal Mental Health and Aging was established with the mission of improving the availability and quality of mental health and substance abuse services for older Floridians. It works on the state level to accomplish this goal. Since 2002, three regional coalitions have been established to impact services at the local level. This workshop begins with a presentation of a brief survey of the regional coalitions, and examines the questions: 1) why develop a local or regional coalition, 2) what are the benefits, and 3) what are the challenges? The chairs of the three regional coalitions will then discuss their experiences in establishing and running their local groups, and will conclude with advice on coalition building. |
